Folon and the art of stained glass

From 27 September 2025 to 3 January 2026, the FAM museum in Marche-en-Famenne will host a remarkable exhibition dedicated to Folon’s stained glass windows. This exhibition is part of the commemoration of the 975th anniversary of the Romanesque church of Waha, for which Folon designed the stained glass windows in 2004-2005. The artist created six remarkable series of stained glass windows in France, Monaco and Belgium, which he produced at the Ateliers Loire in Chartres.

To mark this exhibition, the Fondation Folon is publishing a second Cahier de Folon devoted to stained glass and producing a short film entitled Folon et l’art du vitrail. Rencontre avec Bruno Loire (Folon and the art of stained glass. Meeting with Bruno Loire), directed by Gaëtan Saint-Rémy, a Fondation Folon/Clair-Obscur co-production, with the support of the Famenne and Art Museum. The film will be shown in the exhibition. The Cahier is available at the Fondation Folon and FAM art shops. The Cahier and film highlight Folon’s extraordinary creativity in the centuries-old technique of stained glass, while introducing viewers to its secrets.

A marvel of marvels, the small church of Saint-Etienne de Waha is backlit at dusk, giving an unprecedented view of Folon’s stained glass windows from the outside. Until 3 January 2026.
