Folon in Florence: help restore the sculptures

‘A dream cannot overwhelm you; it caresses you. Light as a cloud. Transparent as a rainbow. Little by little, it settles within you.’ Folon
Call for donations
In 2011, following the major retrospective dedicated to Jean-Michel Folon in Florence and Tuscany in 2005, 11 of Folon’s monumental sculptures were installed in one of the city’s most charming parks: the Rose Garden.
A wonderful historic public garden, popular with tourists and Florentines alike, ideally situated on the banks of the Arno, opposite the dome of the Duomo di Firenze.
These 11 sculptures are now in need of extensive restoration. In collaboration with the City of Florence, which is covering part of the cost, the Fondation Folon is seeking to raise 19 000 € to contribute to this restoration project, which will cost 50 000 € and forms part of the ambitious and prestigious project to restore the city’s artistic heritage, via FLORENCE I CARE (FLIC).
This initiative is supported by the King Baudouin Foundation. Through the Foundation, Belgian donations are eligible for a tax deduction of 30% of the amount actually paid, for donations of 40 € or more (Article 145/33 of the CIR).

These bronze works show signs of active corrosion, visible in the form of stains, streaks and surface damage. Professional restoration is now required. The restorer Nicola Salvioli, a leading expert in the restoration of bronze works, is in charge of the project.
If you would like to help promote this Belgian heritage, showcased in the heart of one of Tuscany’s most beautiful towns amidst the splendours of the Italian Renaissance, please support this extraordinary project led by the Fondation Folon by making a donation.
Thank you for your generosity!
