In 2007, in accordance with the wishes of Jean-Michel Folon (1934-2005), a space for temporary exhibitions was opened. The programme of exhibitions showcases the many facets of this inquisitive and multidisciplinary artist who worked alongside the most skilled craftsmen, learning techniques such as aquatint, silkscreen printing, stained glass, ceramics, tapestry and, of course, sculpture in stone and bronze.
The space’s other objective is to exhibit work by his “family in spirit”, the many artists whom Folon worked with and admired or who influenced his career. Folon always enjoyed meeting people. The archives – photographs, written documents and correspondence – are full of accounts of his meetings with his friends including visual artists, filmmakers, writers, musicians, etc.
The Fondation Folon is also keen to establish relationships with contemporary artists whose work bears similarities to Folon’s in terms of its artistic or poetic approach.
